In addition, there are important planning tasks such as the development of transport strategies and transport control as well as operational tasks such as transport technology and data transmission technology. And finally, administrative tasks such as personnel management and resource management are also part of transport logistics.

When planning, controlling and implementing transport logistics services, it is essential to keep an eye on both the supplier network and the distribution network. The supplier network (also known as the supplier pyramid) defines which type of supplier plays a role in the delivery process, e.g. parts, component or system suppliers. The distribution network describes the spatial structure in which the delivery process takes place. It is determined by the production site, warehouse and location of customer demand.
